Manohar Parrikar approved the the procurement of 83 TEJAS and 464 Tanks

Indian Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar approved the procurement of 83 Light Combat Aircraft Tejas MK 1A and 464 T-90 tanks in the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) led by him. This deal is worth Rs. 82K Cr and is the first project that will be developed under the Buy Indian - IDDM (Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) category of the new Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP). The procurements and development will be done under Make in India program.

The T-90 is a third - generation Russian battle tank that entered in service in 1993.
