Indian Navy Day
Navy day in India is celebrated on 4th December every year to
celebrate the achievements and role of the naval force to the country, especially
during the Indo-pakistan war of 1971. Navy day is celebrated commemorate the
attack on the Karachi harbor During the Indo-Pakistan war (4th Dec
1971).
Navy day 2014
This year we celebrated our 43rd
Navy day. A range of events lined up in
Vishakapatnam were planned by the
Eastern Naval Command. These include wreath laying at the War Memorial on
RamaKrishna Beach, operatiponal display of naval ships, submarines, aircraft
and the special forces and an aerobatic display by Advanced Light Helicopter of
the Indian Air Force.
The
Navy chief, along with Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha and Army Chief Lt General
Dalbir Singh Suhag paid tributes to martyrs of INS Sindhurakshak at the Amar
Jawan Jyoti in New Delhi.
The
PM Narendra Modi tweeted:

The
President Pranab Mukherjee Said: “ The current
geostrategic environment has enhanced the role and responsibilities of the
Indian Navy in protecting the nation’s maritime interests. The Navy’s
successful induction of indigenously constructed warships and submarines and
its integration of Indian-made equipment and systems symbolise India’s growing
maritime capabilities and quest for strategic self-reliance. It is indeed a
matter of great pride and reassurance to the entire nation that the uniformed
and civilian personnel of the Navy have been serving the nation with utmost
devotion and dedication. They have countered effectively growing challenges and
maintained constant vigil at sea."
