In order to strengthen the coastal
security of the state, the Indian Navy began a two days Sagar Kavach
exercise on December 10.
Dy SP Ramesh Gaonkar informed
that "the coastal security police have to safeguard a total of 105 kms of
the coastline from the Maharashtra to the Karnataka border."
This exercise is supervised
by the chief secretary, government of Goa, and coordinated by Indian Coast
Guard district headquarters Goa. Indian Coast Guard, Indian Navy, Goa Police,
Goa Coastal Security Intelligence agencies, CISF and Customs etc. are taking
part.
